The forgotten world of Shen’Rā Hān

Planetary Information

Shen’Rā Hān, also known as Owínesa, is a luxuriant oasis in the cosmos with a surface area of 65.81 million mi². Its atmosphere is a unique blend of gases: Nitrogen (72%), Oxygen (25%), Argon (1.2%), Carbon Dioxide (0.5%), and traces of neon, helium, methane, krypton, hydrogen, nitrous oxide, carbon monoxide, xenon, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and iodine. This unusual composition not only allows life as we know it to exist but also supports the incredible biodiversity found on this beautiful world.

The high oxygen concentration supports the towering forests that carpet the landscape, while the other trace elements in the atmosphere contribute to the vibrant colors seen in Shen’Rā Hān's skies. This diverse mix also influences the planet's weather patterns and contributes to the dense, luminescent auroras visible in its polar regions. The planet's vibrant biosphere is a rich mixture of life, from the towering forests that carpet the landscape in green, to the diverse array of animal species that fill its rivers, skies, and lands with sound and color.

The rich heritages and histories of the humanoid and various mammalian inhabitants of Shen’Rā Hān varies from region to region. Their diversity has been a major factor in this beautiful world’s ability to thrive.

The Ka’shānai River People

The history of the Ka’shānai people is a complex tapestry woven with tales of struggle, resilience, and a constant quest for freedom and harmony. Their origins can be traced back to a time of oppression and the subjugation of their ancestors by chieftains who claimed to be gods. This dark period was marked by laborious work, fear, and the loss of personal freedom. The aftermath of the tragic events at Suut’sa Bay triggered a series of profound changes that shaped the course of their civilization.

  • Era of Oppression: The Era of Oppression represented a period when the Ka’shānai people endured the rule of tyrannical chieftains who forced them into servitude. These rulers sought to control every aspect of their lives, extracting their labor and stifling their spirits. The people lived in fear, their light threatened to be stolen by the darkness represented by a man of flesh, blood, bone, and sinew known as, D'Evoldié, who was tasked with surgically altering those that resisted with leukotomy.
  • The Exodus: Faced with the harsh realities of their existence, some of the Ka’shānai people began to rebel against their oppressors. Inspired by tales of a land in the far east, a place of freedom and self-governance, they embarked on a perilous journey, led by courageous individuals like Iaspis's grandmother. The Exodus represented their quest for liberation and the forging of a new path.
  • Founding of Owínesa: The journey of the Ka’shānai people eventually led them to the fertile plains of Shen’Rā Hān. They shed themselves of more then just the shackles of oppression, but everything they associated with their former masters. They renamed their new world, Owínesa: a symbol of freedom, a sanctuary where the Ka’shānai could rebuild their lives and culture.
  • Era of Resilience and Harmony: In this era, the Ka’shānai people flourished in Owínesa, drawing strength from their shared history of struggle. They developed sustainable practices, nurturing the planet's resources while ensuring their own well-being. The harmony they sought extended beyond the environment to their societal and cultural practices. They celebrated their connection to the natural world, forging a bond that would shape their identity for generations to come.
  • Massacre at Suut’sa Bay: Following the tragic events at Suut’sa Bay, the Ka’shānai people faced an onslaught from the Kōr’wrath-thlyans. These invaders, motivated by vengeance, unleashed destruction upon the Ka’shānai lands, sparing no one. The brutal assault resulted in the near-extinction of the Ka’shānai people, leaving few survivors.
  • Exodus and Journey to Epóli: The survivors, devastated and grieving, embarked on a perilous journey southward. They traversed the treacherous Bokotēin Forest and crossed the Great Sand Sea, facing immense challenges along the way. Many perished during this grueling migration, particularly the young and elderly. Eventually, a small group of survivors reached the great city of Epóli, a bastion of refuge and hope amidst the turmoil.
  • Epóli and Shen’Rā Hān: Epóli, one of the great cities on Shen’Rā Hān, became a sanctuary for the remaining Ka’shānai survivors. They found solace and support within its walls, adapting to a new way of life in this cosmopolitan center. As time passed, the survivors integrated with the diverse inhabitants of Epóli and gradually formed a new identity as the people of Shen’Rā Hān, a name inspired by the Goddess of the plains. The Ka’shānai culture blended with other cultural influences, and the memories of their ancestral homeland, Ka’shānai, began to fade.
  • Coexistence and Change: The survivors of Ka'shānai, like all the people of Shen’Rā Hān learned to coexist with the new world they found themselves in. They adapted to the customs, traditions, and beliefs of their new hosts, embracing the evolving landscape around them. With the passage of time, the Ka’shānai people became intertwined with the people of Shen’Rā Hān, incorporating elements of their ancient heritage into the broader tapestry of this worlds culture. The once-prominent chieftains and their names were forgotten, but fragments of the old names remained, preserving a connection to the past.
